COURSE OVERVIEW
This course provides cybersecurity awareness training designed to support U.S. Coast Guard maritime cybersecurity training requirements described in 33 CFR § 101.650(d)(1)(ii)–(iv) and is intended for maritime personnel with access to information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT) systems on regulated vessels and facilities.

This course addresses the following cybersecurity training topics required for maritime personnel:
  • Recognition and detection of cybersecurity threats and all types of cyber incidents
  • Techniques used to circumvent cybersecurity
  • Procedures for reporting a cyber incident to the Cybersecurity Officer (CySO)

TRAINING SCOPE
This course provides cybersecurity awareness training only. It does not replace Cybersecurity Plan training, operational technology–specific training, or Key Personnel training, which may be required for certain roles under applicable regulations.

Cybersecurity awareness training must be completed at least annually. This course provides training valid for the year in which it is completed.

What is the deadline for initial cybersecurity awareness training?
Initial cybersecurity awareness training must be completed no later than January 12, 2026, in accordance with U.S. Coast Guard maritime cybersecurity implementation timelines.
Does this training need to be repeated annually?
Yes. U.S. Coast Guard maritime cybersecurity requirements require cybersecurity awareness training to be conducted at least annually and whenever there are significant changes to systems, operations, or personnel roles that could affect cybersecurity risk.

Personnel must complete refresher training each year to maintain compliance and ensure training reflects current threats, regulatory updates, and agency guidance.
Does the certificate meet regulatory recordkeeping requirements?
Yes. Upon successful completion, learners receive a certificate of completion that documents the training date, course duration, training description, and learner name, consistent with U.S. Coast Guard cybersecurity training recordkeeping expectations.
Can organizations purchase training for multiple learners?
Yes. Group and organizational licensing options are available for organizations purchasing training for multiple learners and managing enrollment across their workforce.
